Getting started

There are several ways to experience Transformational Breath® according to your budget and personal preferences:
- in a 1 to 1 session
- in a group/workshop setting
- if you have a group of friends and space in your home, many facilitators will also come to your home to give short talks and tasters.
Introductions
Introductory workshops are regularly held in venues all over the country. Please see Introductory Workshops for more details. A typical introduction lasts from 2 to 3 hours and will include:
- a talk explaining the technique
- a demonstration called Breath Analysis
- a group breathing session lasting from 20 minutes to one hour.
The cost of an introduction will vary from £15 to £40 depending on location and duration of the workshop. Concessions may be available in some areas.
You will be asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing and probably to bring a mat, a blanket and some pillows to help you relax when lying down.
If your area isn’t covered and you would like to organise a workshop in your town, please contact your nearest workshop leader/trainer who will be happy to discuss possibilities with you.
1 to 1 sessions
1 to 1 sessions are offered all over the country by Certified Transformational Breath® Facilitators
Graduate Transformational Breath® Facilitators may also offer sessions either free or at a reduced price as part of their training.
A typical 1 to 1 session will last between 90 minutes and 2 hours.
Your first session will focus on:
1) Opening chat:
- a few questions regarding your medical history
- explaining how Transformational Breath® works
- how to do it
- what you would like to gain from the session. This could be learning to improve your breathing, letting go of unwanted emotions or simply to feel calmer.
2) The session itself:
- You will then lie down in a comfortable space where you will be supported by pillows and blankets.
- After looking at your natural breathing pattern, your Facilitator will give clear gentle instructions and guide your breath into a connected rhythm.
- Pressure or body mapping will be applied to certain areas of the body to release tension.
- Toning and movement might also be used to relax the breath.
- You will continue to use the Transformational Breath® pattern for around 45 minutes to an hour.
- There is then time for deep relaxation where you lie for 10 – 15 minutes to allow the process to integrate and complete while continuing to breathe in a connected manner.
3) After the session
- You will have time to discuss your experience and how you can incorporate a self practice into your daily life.
All Day Events
Day events are held regularly all over the UK. Please see our all day events section for more details of forthcoming workshops.
A day workshop will typically consist of:
- an introduction to the technique
- a demonstration called Breath Analysis
- work round a specific theme – this may take the form of practical exercises or a group discussion
- or a chance to learn about a specific aspect of Transformational Breath® in more depth
- 2 full breathing sessions: one in the morning, one in the afternoon.
There will be plenty of time for questions and to share your experience.
Joint day workshops are also regularly organised combining Transformational Breath® with other complementary techniques like voice and sound work, yoga, 5 Rhythms dancing or shamanic journeying.
