ALZHEIMER'S

New evidence has emerged that lack of oxygen may be ultimate cause  of Alzheimer's, over and above other risk factors.

ASTHMA

A Research Study  into the causes of asthma undertaken by John Goyeche, Dr. Ago, and Dr; Ikemi recommends that effective treatment needs to address suppressed emotions, as well as the relaxing of respiratory muscles and  full diaphragmatic breathing.

BLOOD PRESSURE

Elevated blood pressure accompanies those bodily states where  .. shallow breathing prevails. By altering breathing to a .. diaphragmatic mode, blood pressure decreases.

In his book Majid Ali says '' I consider persons living with chronic energy disorders - fibromyalgia,chronic fatigue syndrome,disabling fatigue associated with immune disorders, exhaustion after chemotherapy and others - as 'human canaries'. They are sensitive and vulnerable. Their cells and tissues are injured by too much oxidation and too little oxygen. Their basic problem is a dysfunction of oxygen metabolism. ''

He states his intention for his book to be a wake-up call about the pandemic of dysfunctional metabolism and finishes with '' no matter how we twist and turn we shall eventually come back to oxygen''.

HYPOTHYROIDISM AND FIBROMYALGIA

Dr. John C. Lowe identified 'air hunger' in patients suffering from hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia due to  the inability of the  diaphragm to contract normally, abnormal heart and lung function and/or poor thyroid regulation.

LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

A study on the effects of breathing on the lymphatic system (using cameras inside the body), found that deep diaphragmatic breathing stimulated  the lymph system by creating a vacuum effect which sucked the lymph through the bloodstream fifteen times faster than normal.

HEART DISEASE

".."Healthy breathing should be the first thing taught to a heart patient. A Dutch Study conducted by Dr. Dixhoorn, compared two groups of heart attack patients.  The first group was taught simple diaphragmatic breathing, while the second group was given no training in breathing.  The breathing group had no further heart attacks, while 7 of the 12 members of the second group had second heart attacks over the next two years. "
